The poems of Ignacio Ruiz-Perez, available in the U.S for the first time in this volume, are suffused with color and a textural music reminiscent of the work of Raphael Alberti, Pablo Neruda, Luis Cernuda, and all the great Spanish language poets of the twentieth century. They are filled with light and with the lovely dark of the magical.
Ignacio Ruiz-Perez was born in Chiapas, Mexico, in 1976. He is the author of three books of poetry: La cancion del desterrado (2004), Navegaciones (Regional Poetry Prize “Rodulfo Figueroa” (2005), and Deslizamientos (National Prize of Youth Poetry “Salvador Gallardo Davalos” 2006). He is also the author of books of essays. His poetry and nonfiction have appeared in publications throughout Latin America, including: Tierra Adentro, Punto de Partida, Critica, La Nave, Revista de Literatura Mexicana Contemporanea, Revista Hispanica Moderna, and Bulletin of Hispanic Studies.
